  • Lift Service Engineer Software Case Study

Lift Service Engineer Software

We custom-built job management software for established lift maintenance company Target Lifts.

Target Lifts is a company with 30 years’ experience installing and servicing all types of lifts for the private and public sectors. Clients include ITV’s Television Centre, London’s five-star hotel The Goring and office management company Optimum Property Management.

A growing order book has seen Target Lift's number of engineers double over the last few years.
Improve Efficiency Replacing previously manual tasks
Improve accounting Invoices directly linked with jobs and suppliers
Save on licensing costs No more monthly usage fees
The Challenge Like many businesses, when Target Lifts started out they had no central systems, using instead a mix of spreadsheets and documents.

When Sales Manager Brendan Osborn joined the Company he quickly realised the need for more streamlined systems. Brendan brought in off-the-shelf job management software eWorks.

Although the software saw them through a couple of years, Brendan and his colleagues realised it could only do about 80% of what they wanted. In addition, they were being charged £10 per user per month to use it.

The Solution After considering a number of off-the-shelf lift management software packages, Target Lifts identified that a professionally engineered bespoke system offered the best long-term investment.

The solution we built consists of a number of modules including;

Lift Register

Designed to store details of customers’ portfolio of lifts. The Register stores maintenance actions and can be updated with current health and safety information on each individual lift.

Maintenance Schedules

These allow Target Lifts to keep track of planned maintenance requirements - be they monthly, bi-monthly, quarterly or on specific times of the month.

Engineer Portal

This enables engineers in the field to view a list of the jobs assigned to them, mark jobs as complete and upload documentation, photos etc.

Finance Module

This generates PDF invoices and allows for exporting of data to the Company’s Sage software.

The Results We are just putting the finishing touches to the software at present but when launched it will deliver a whole host of benefits including;
  • Significant savings on license costs. Moving to our bespoke solution Target Lifts saves on the monthly per user charges it was paying to use off-the-shelf software.
  • Improved efficiency and automation of the Company. The new software manages all aspects of Target Lift’s job and project workflow. Many of these tasks were previously done by hand.
  • Improved financial record keeping. The ability to link invoices directly with jobs and suppliers all within the one system means Target can more easily track cash-flow and other financial KPIs.
  • Ability to adapt to future needs. Target Lifts already has a wish list for Phase 2. Our bespoke way of working means that they have a system that can grow as they do.
  • Better management of automation of Service Level Agreements (SLAs). SLAs govern much of Target Lift’s turnaround times and the system we built enables the Company to build the requirements of these into quotations and job requests.
  • Tailor Made We delivered robust software that is engaging and solves a complex customer requirement
  • Bespoke CRM Our client benefited from a unique solution designed around their business
  • High Availability Built around a modern cloud platform capable of delivering power on-demand
  • Integrated Software This application works with external systems to offer increased functionality.

Partnership This was very much a collaborative project. From project kick-off right through to final build, we worked closely with staff from Target Lifts to ensure that the software meets their particular needs. We are confident that Target Lifts now have a system that will stand them in good stead for many years to come.
